Interview Schedule

Candidates applying to this requisition may be considered for the interview process below. The interview process consists of the following:

  • A 60 minute virtual interview
  • A 30 minute in-person interview
  • A Ramp Chief aptitude test

Candidates successful in the interview process may be invited to paid classroom training in Honolulu. Training is five days, 8 hours per day on weekdays.

Position Overview

Duties include but are not limited to:

Must be able to possess the qualifications of a Ramp Agent and have the ability to supervise, lead and direct the work of and provide practical training to others.

  • Assumes the responsibility for proper administration of work in their unit.
  • Responsible for checking and correcting reports and other documentation.
  • Accountable for inventory in the commissary area.
  • Loading, stowing and unloading of all cargo and baggage in accordance with flight loading plans.
  • Pick-up and delivery of all cargo, including mail, express, baggage, freight Company material, commissary supplies.
  • Preparation, reporting and accounting of necessary documents relating to work performed.
  • Cleaning of aircraft baggage pits and immediate work areas.
  • Operation of ground service equipment in connection with the above duties, and only after proper training.
  • Responsible for communicating correct placement of cargo & baggage and provide final count to Weight & Balance
  • If not a violation of Line Service scope, responsible for ground equipment fueling
  • When mechanical personnel are not immediately available for the assignment, Ramp Agents may also be required to perform the duties of Cleaners: limited to cleaning of offices in surrounding areas and aircraft. Such duties may be assigned only as the needs of the service require.
  • Responsible for receipt and dispatch of aircraft and related ancillary duties.
    • Receipt and dispatch is defined as receipt of an incoming flight and dispatch of an outgoing flight including all related ancillary duties.
  • If not a violation of Line Service scope, Ramp employees may be utilized to perform Move Team work and would be eligible for the Move Team premium identified in Article 19.
  • If not a violation of Line Service scope, Ramp employees may be utilized for Aircraft Fueling.

Pay and Benefits

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and the pay for this position is $17.67 per hour.

Medical, dental and vision benefits are provided in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and may not be available for all positions.

Work Schedules

Per the collective bargaining agreement, work schedules are awarded based on seniority. New hires are awarded their initial shift based on operational need. You must be able to accept the shift awarded to you.

Work schedules are set, 5 days on, 2 days off. Shifts do not change unless there is an operational need.

Full-Time is 8 hours per shift. Based on operational need, you may need to report to work early and/or work beyond your scheduled end time. 

The airport is busiest in the middle of the day (typically 9am – 4pm). Nearly all new hires are awarded shifts during this timeframe. If you have a full-time job during the day, please consider this before applying.

If You Do Not Reside on O'ahu Island

If hired, based on operational need, you will be required to report to work early and/or work beyond your scheduled end time. Those who plan to fly to get to/from work would have difficulty reporting to work early, which is a restriction in availability. Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent education
  • Valid driver’s license issued in the United States (driver’s permits and provisional driver’s licenses not allowed)
  • Ability to work any shift awarded
  • Must be familiar with operating a computer.
  • Must be able to obtain a ramp permit.
  • Must have physical ability to perform above duties including:
  • Frequently lifting and carrying up to 70 lbs. and 120 lbs. occasionally
  • Constantly walking and standing
  • Occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Must be able to obtain proper restricted area clearances (AOA).
  • Must be able to obtain a Customs’ seal.
  • Must have knowledge of Hawaii and world geography.
  • Must have good customer relations skills.
  • Must have a good command of the English language.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment drug test and if hired, random drug testing
  • Ability to fulfill comprehensive background checks and fingerprinting to satisfy company security requirements and obtain various clearances to work at the airport (SIDA, Customs, and USPS, as applicable)
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Ramp Chief aptitude test

***HAZMAT MATERIAL TRAINING PREREQUISTE- Per 14 CFR 121.1005(b) requires each crewmember and person performing or directly supervising any job functions involving any item for transport on board an aircraft to receive HAZMAT Training respective to their job function prior to reporting to that department.
