Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Qualifications GS-9 : To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of both. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level, involving legal or paralegal work demonstrating knowledge of legal research and interpretation of legal decisions. Examples include examining legal documents, conducting research, drafting legal documents, using filing systems, and reviewing legal references. Education: A Master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law) or 2 years of progressively higher graduate education in an accredited institution demonstrating relevant knowledge and skills. Combining Education and Experience: Successful combinations of graduate education and experience may qualify, provided graduate education exceeds 1 full year. ICTAP: Provides eligible displaced Federal employees with priority for selection if they meet specific criteria and score well on ranking assessments. Proof of eligibility is required. CTAP: Offers similar priority for surplus and displaced Department of Justice employees, with eligibility verified through official notification.
